Enchanting Essex Crystal Reverse Painted Intaglio 14K and Rose Cut Diamonds 1832. Reverse intaglios are carved rock crystal, from the underside, and painted to give a three-dimensional quality. This example depicts a jockey wearing blue and gold on a brown horse, against a gold background. The piece is surrounded by 30 Rose cut diamonds, all of which are intact with no visible damage.The diamonds are set in silver, and the piece is made of 14K gold. There are a number of marks, but only the italicized A for 1832, is really clear.
