Being offered is a Victorian Antique 9K Rose Gold Painted Limoges Cherub Brooch Pin c. 1868 in Preowned Condition with Areas of Damage This antique brooch, circa the Victorian Era, features a hand-painted, porcelain limoges, set at the center of solid 9 karat rose gold frame. The porcelain limoges was hand-painted, using crushed enamel, and then fired in a kiln. The miniature oval painting measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4".
The painting is moderately to heavily scratched. The reverse side of the porcelain limoges is faintly marked with a hand-written date that reads "1868". The rose gold frame is damaged near the hinge. The seams of the frame are split in several areas on the reverse side of the piece.
The brooch is fastened by an old, antique C-catch with a pin that extends far beyond the edge of the brooch, which was typical of the Victorian era. The piece is not hallmarked, but has been tested and tests solid 9 karat rose gold. 1 5/8" x 1 1/4". 10.1 grams (6.5 dwts).
