This is one of my prefered treasures I found in my life of antique textile collector and lover... This is the front curtain (or blind) of an antique Sedan chair that would be used in France to carry the quality. The painting is signed and dated A. Made of golden ochre yellow silk, the curtain is lined with plain yellow satin with minor damp staining and carries a coordinated passementerie with pompons along the bottom. The front side is simply fabulous, in the center, an oval-shaped painted landscape framed with violets features a shepherd and his flock of sheep walking up a road to a medieval castle in the background. All around, gorgeous hand-painted pink and yellow roses and white lilac attached with blue bows and trailing ribbons... After the sedan chair became obsolete, the curtain was kept and mounted on a rod covered with velvet to be displayed on the wall and here it is!

Measuring 34.64" H x 22.83" W (88cm x 58cm) The oval painting is about 13.75" x 9.84" (35cm x 25cm). Some crackles in the painting as shown, minor wear and tear commensurate with age and fragility, please see photos as they are important part of my description.. A TRUE PIECE OF HISTORY..
