The work is unsigned, would date to the early part of the 20th Century and there are label remnants verso - according to the vendor the work is by Raphael Roussell but is unsigned. Little appears to be known about the artist although he was born in Chelsea, South West London in 1883.
He was the son of Theodore Casini Roussel (1847 1926) a French born English painter. It is widely believed that Raphael had no formal training but only guidance from his father. Theodore Roussel (his father) was a French painter and etcher whereas Raphael was known for his travel posters.
