C1930 Excellent OOB Cottage Roses Pauline Bliss Williams (1888-1962) Rockport
A well rendered, impasto piece of a cottage/bungalow style house with mass of tumbling, climbing roses over the gate entrance. The condition is great with only minor wear, a bit of dirt and a very slight board loss in the corner where the signature is. The colors are strong and the piece measures 6 3/4 x 8 with the painting measuring 4 7/8 x 6 1/4. Pauline Bliss Williams was a well listed artist who had a studio in Rockport, MA and trained with both Frank Dumond and Robert Henri. There are plenty of examples of her work online. This is a charming little painting presented excellently in a muted dark green period frame. Thank you from Phoenix Antique Frames.
